SUMMARY:Innovation Loans Round 22 - Applicant Briefing Webinar and Deep-dive Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Find out more about Innovate UK’s Innovation Loans Future Economy Competition for SME businesses looking for finance for late stage research and development. \nWe have introduced important changes to the Innovation Loans programme to give businesses more flexibility to deliver both R&D and pre-commercial activities. Loans of between £100 thousand and £5 million are now available to SMEs looking for finance for late-stage research and development. \nThese updates reflect how innovative projects evolve from development through to early commercial deployment and offer support across a longer project period. \nJoin our upcoming applicant briefing to learn what these changes mean for your innovation loan application\, how to complete the updated form\, and how to make the most of the funding now available for activities like tooling\, marketing\, customer testing\, and capital deployment. \nWhether you are preparing to apply or simply exploring your options\, this session will help you understand the opportunity and navigate the process with confidence. \nRound 22 will open on Thursday 3 July 2025 and will close at 11am on Wednesday 27 August 2025. \nBriefing event\nAn Applicant Briefing webinar for round 22\, which will provide an overview of the Future Economy Innovation Loans programme and detailed information about the application process\, will be held online from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday 16 July 2025. A recording will be available afterwards. \nDeep dive workshops \nParticipate in an online ‘deep dive’ workshop for the financial submission for Innovate UK’s Innovation Loans Future Economy Competition. Please ensure you have attended or watched the recording of the Applicant Briefing webinar. \nThe business and financial submission is a critical part of the loan application in the Future Economy Innovation Loans programme. We will hold ‘deep dive’ workshops to enable applicants to consider how an innovation loan may fit within their funding strategy for growth at scale through innovation\, and to engage with members of the innovation loans team and other applicants. The online workshops will have a maximum of 55 participants to promote engagement and discussion. \nEach workshop will focus on the three areas of the financial submission where we frequently see applicants struggle to provide evidence of their suitability for an innovation loan: \n\nPresenting credible forecasts for future revenues and costs\nDemonstrating effective management of liquidity and working capital\nEvidencing adequate capitalisation.\n\nWorkshop agenda \nThe workshop agenda will cover: \n\nThe three core ‘problem areas’ seen across many previous      unsuccessful applications\, with anonymised examples.\nBreakout discussions in groups\, led by a member of the      innovation loans team\, to enable participants to take a ‘deep dive’ into      one of the core areas.\nReflections on the ‘deep dive’ discussions.\n\nThe workshop will last 90 minutes and will be delivered through an interactive Zoom meeting. As there will be a limited number of participants at each workshop\, we will repeat the workshops three times. \nThese workshops will not repeat the information provided in the applicant briefing webinar (which provides an overview of the Future Economy Innovation Loans programme and detailed information about the application process). \nWe expect all participants at the ‘deep dive’ workshops to have already reviewed the content of these webinars (as well as the recorded webinar on completing a good project application). Please click here to find webinar recordings. These ‘deep dive’ workshops will not be recorded\, so that participants can discuss their funding strategies freely. \nPrior registration is mandatory for these workshops\, and applicants will only be permitted to register one participant at one workshop. Since each applicant is permitted one participant\, we recommend that this should be the Chief Financial Officer or another member of the Board or Senior Leadership team with responsibility for developing the funding strategy for growth through innovation of the business. \n\nDeep dive workshop 1: Wednesday 23 July\, 2.00pm – 3.30pm\nDeep dive workshop 2: Wednesday 30 July\, 09.30am – 11.00am\nDeep dive workshop 3: Monday 4 August\, 11.00am – 12.30pm

SUMMARY:Finding and Winning Public Sector Contracts
DESCRIPTION:February 2025 marked a seismic shift in the UK’s public procurement landscape with the rollout of the long-awaited Procurement Act 2023 and its accompanying secondary legislation. The Cabinet Office launched a dedicated website\, attended numerous events and trained thousands of procurement professionals across the public sector. \nBut here’s the catch: if you’re a supplier and a small/micro enterprise\, you may not have heard anything about it. There’s been no formal training for suppliers\, and unless you were already in the know\, these changes could be passing you by. That’s where we come in! This event will break it all down—what’s changed\, how it affects you\, where to register\, and how to find and win those crucial public sector contracts. Don’t miss your chance to stay ahead of the curve. \nThis event is being hosted by Enterprise Oxfordshire and delivered by Oxford College of Procurement & Supply\, a part of the Oxford Professional Education Group. \nMinimal Financial Assistance (MFA) scheme \nThe Growth Hub programme operates a Minimal Financial Assistance (MFA) scheme. All SMEs which receive support under this programme are being aided under the UK Subsidy Control Act (2022) and The Subsidy Control (Gross Cash Amount and Gross Cash Equivalent) Regulations (2022 No. 1186). \nMFA allows a beneficiary to receive up to £315\,000 of Subsidy over a three-fiscal year period (i.e. the current and previous two fiscal years). The value of MFA given is the gross cash amount or the gross cash equivalent of the subsidy. The MFA value of this webinar is £361.70. \nAt the end of each financial year\, we are required to tell you the total amount of support you have received from Enterprise Oxfordshire. By signing up to the event you are consenting to us holding your data in line with our Privacy Policy – OxLEP Business to allow us to do this. We will only send promotional emails about new products\, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting if you opt in to marketing.

SUMMARY:The vulnerability of communicating innovation
DESCRIPTION:Anyone can learn to feel confident\, and more importantly\, authentic when public speaking. And what’s more it’s ‘traditional’ presentation skills and public speaking ‘tips and tricks’ that can make us worse. These are the beliefs of Liu Batchelor\, our guest for our February meet up. \nLiu is a verbal communication coach\, TV presenter\, and former TEDx curator\, specialising in the communication of innovation – and the vulnerability that comes with it. \nLiu describes herself as an introvert\, had speech therapy as a kid\, hated public speaking and used to almost faint during presentations at university – but not anymore. \nShe now works to help innovators and entrepreneurs understand the value of what they’ve got to say and in their unique way of saying it. \nDuring the session\, Liu will be covering: \n\nWhy we struggle with public speaking and communicating innovation\, and why this makes us feel so vulnerable\nLessons from intimate interviews with TEDx speakers about their – often emotional – journeys from idea to the stage\nAlternative\, counter-intuitive approaches to public speaking\, and how to be the presenter you want to be.
